Men Still Need to Perform Monthly Testicular Self-Exams This April, Even During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Beginning April 7th, a brand-new, viral, social media campaign and national day launches, which helps remind men and saves lives.

Rockville, Maryland Apr 7, 2020 (Issuewire.com)  - During this COVID-19 outbreak, most individuals are instructed to stay home to protect themselves from this deadly disease. While everyone is focused on this frightening pandemic, men need to also be aware of another potentially deadly disease – testicular cancer. If detected early, this type of cancer is very curable, and men’s lives can be saved. According to the Sean Kimerling Testicular Cancer Foundation, “[this] is the most common form of cancer in men between the ages of 15 and 40.”

Every April is Testicular Cancer Awareness Month, but this April, a new viral, life-saving campaign has begun to raise awareness for testicular cancer and inform men about the importance of testicular self-exams. National Ball Check Day is a social media campaign and day aiming to MANdate testicular self-exams and raise awareness for early detection of testicular cancer. The mission is to eliminate the stigma surrounding this type of cancer. This is the first-ever day dedicated to performing testicular self-exams and is a compliment of Testicular Cancer Awareness Month. The organizers: two testicular cancer survivors, are encouraging men to share their posts and photos on social media using #NationalBallCheckDay and #ICheckedMyBalls!

According to the organizers, “there seems to be a stigma surrounding testicular cancer and the goal was to destigmatize it by creating a campaign that got people interested and excited.” They hope this campaign will change the community and ultimately the world when speaking about a potentially embarrassing topic – testicular cancer.
