Bedworth, England Jan 1, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Ukiyoto Publishing released an excellent and insightful Practical Guide to HR for SMEs, Charities and Managers written by Author Mike Gill, titled, “Human Resource Management Made Easy” in Q2 of FY19-20.
Mike has been involved in industrial relations, human resources, and management for over forty years. With a career spanning manufacturing, through public transport to FTSE 100 companies and city councils, Mike has been a negotiator on both sides of the bargaining table as both senior union representative and human resource manager.
Mike is an all-rounder who has developed human resource policies and strategies for local authorities and charities, management and workforce development programmes for organizations of all sizes and has represented both employers and employees in employment tribunals. Having an honours degree in History and Politics, a diploma in Trade Union Studies, Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, Mike is able to combine his wealth of experience with underpinning academic knowledge.
After a long career in the cut and thrust environment of employee relations and the highly rewarding world of employee and management development, Mike now splits his time as a freelance consultant to SMEs and writing. Mike lives in Oldham, is married to Glenys, has two grown-up sons, three step-kids and three grandchildren.
Speaking to Mike, he says, “I have established a Facebook page and am in the process of launching a new web site for the book. I have also begun writing a follow book, Employee Relations Made Easy, which covers the day to day questions of discipline, grievance, equality, absence management and so on in more detail than HR Management Made Easy was able to."
When Mike wrote to Ukiyoto Publishing for going ahead with the publication he said he wrote the book because he felt that the professional services of a human resource department were only accessible to larger companies and organisations. This gave them a significant advantage over the smaller businesses and charities who could not afford such a luxury and he wanted to provide something that would help level that playing field without a significant cost to the smaller player.
His book takes the reader through the employee life cycle from its conception to the end and answers the questions that are put to human resource professionals on a daily basis.
On reviewing the title, the editorial board found that Human Resource Management Made Easy was exactly what it says it is – a book that makes the complex world of recruitment, contracts, workforce development and everything else to do with employing people as simple and accessible as possible. This book is designed for the busy manager of a small business or charity with no access to a Human Resource Department, the aspiring professionals taking their first steps towards a career in this exciting profession and anyone simply wanting to know that bit more about the management, motivation, and development of people in the workplace.
The author takes all the common areas that managers ask of HR professionals in large and complex organisations and makes sense of it for the smaller business or organisation. Mike takes the reader on a journey through the employee life cycle from pre-employment, through recruitment, workforce, and individual development, to the parting of ways, using combinations of step by step activities, models and anecdotes from his extensive experience in the business of human resources. By following the advice within this book and putting the actions it describes into practice, the reader will gain both skills and knowledge in the art of human resource management.
So far post-launch the sales of the book have been immensely exciting with copies going off the rack and now is also made available for purchase by more than forty thousand bookstores, retail channels, and distributors across the world.
Here are few of what the readers had to say after going through the book,
“Mike makes complex HR and management subjects easy to understand, not only explaining what to do but why - so that I can assess how applicable the advice is to my business. It’s presented in plain English, making it very accessible. This is a must for managers and business owners who don’t have direct access to HR support or want to learn more themselves.”
- Nadia Batool - Data Privacy Manager
“This is a great book, especially for companies that don’t have access to experienced HR professionals .”
- Cheryl Wood, Operations Manager
Mike Gill got featured as one of the best selling authors for his title in the year FY19-20 so far in the literary magazine of Ukiyoto Publishing, Litteratura.
