ECSC has been celebrating the surfer lifestyle since 1962 and some of the most prominent surfers in the world have graced our waters as a result. ECSC is the 2nd oldest, continuously run surfing championship in the world. Over the years, both professional, amateur and local kid/teen/adult surfers have ridden Virginia Beach waves for top honours. In the past 10 years alone, millions of dollars of prize money have been paid out for all of the ECSC related events; from surfing to volleyball and its annual swimsuit pageant. For more on ECSC, check out the 2017 highlights at surfecsc.com.
In addition to running and managing ECSC, the VB Jaycees have been a core group of young professionals ages 18-40 in the area since the 1940s. The group serves to promote leadership training and community involvement and their historical influence over the city includes everything from aiding in the development of the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad and public library systems to honouring the First Citizen of Virginia Beach award.
