Ignite Technology and Innovation is a 501c3 organization that operates several coworking spaces, including the Blue Lacuna Coworking Space in Pilsen. Ignite aims to create equitable wealth and shared prosperity in Chicago’s under-resourced communities.
Momentum will celebrate its first anniversary this May as it reiterates its commitment to powering under-resourced individuals and improving prosperity and wealth equity in the community.
Ignite develops accessible coworking spaces where under-resourced youth and adults can access programs and classes for entrepreneurship and wealth-building. Ignite’s programs maximize the untapped ideas of up-and-coming yet underrepresented entrepreneurs. By providing strategic connections, mentorship programs, classes, technology, and other resources, Ignite aims to help create value and wealth in these under-resourced communities.
Momentum Coffee and Coworking can be found in the South Loop Community at 2119 S. State Street. Momentum is a coffee shop that doubles as a fully-equipped coworking space. It has an open coworking area for all its members, a conference room, and huddle spaces, too. Momentum came to be a few months into the lockdown in May 2020.
Momentum’s iconic logo is the power symbol – universally recognized, and according to Ignite, it refers to “powering up, empowering others and powering the community!” Momentum continues to be an open-to-the-public incubator that focuses on coffee, coworking, and providing an event space to entrepreneurs and other community members.
Tracy Powell, the CEO and President of Ignite emphasizes the power of intentional partnerships to make Momentum work.

“We have been blessed by those committed to shopping small and shopping local. We partner with an app that focused on mobile orders for indie shops, which was the first major pivot from the original plan, which was to have people enjoy our indoor space and build community,” says Tracy enthusiastically.
Nikki Bravo, Executive Director, describes Momentum as a place where good coffee, community, and technology come together with ease.
“We’re building a community of individuals, entrepreneurs, solopreneurs, business community… Giving them access to programming, resources, technology, and a place they want to be, [where] it’s cool and tech-enabled.
“This is really about community - bringing together people that can work together and leverage each other in a space that sells really good coffee,” Nikki says.
