Los Angeles, California May 25, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - The comedy web series The Cable Company today released four free episodes on its YouTube channel. As the first-ever workplace sitcom about everyone’s most hated business, it provides an alarming but-comedic glimpse into how your local cable company is run.
“My first job out of college was at my local cable company. It was a torturous string of mergers, layoffs, and commutes to bizarre office buildings, all while ruthlessly enacting rate increases on customers,” said writer and producer William Scott Hunter.
The comedy web series was shot in one day during the coronavirus pandemic and was directed by Elitia Daniels, who also acts in the episodes as the disengaged-but-competent ‘Nicole’. The rest of the cast includes Danny Ross as the out-of-depth boss ‘Mark’, Julia Tilden as the ambitious Type A ‘Alison’, and Alex Pike as the unassuming underling ‘Timothy’.
Based on an original, half-hour TV pilot script by Hunter, The Cable Company web series follows four cable company employees as they strive to maintain some sense of dignity and accomplishment while working out of a small, cable office somewhere in Texas.
