Dr. Botkin has extensive knowledge of national parks and African elephants, and he put these to good use, providing accurate details and enriching his narrative.

In the novel, a group of scientists and conservationists put their lives on the line as they try to protect and save elephants from poachers in Kenya’s Tsavo National Park. Aside from the poachers, the group also has to deal with dangerous elephants, leopards, and lions. To survive, they need to work as one and resolve the conflicts and rivalries among them.

Dr. Botkin worked as a professional journalist and has already published sixteen books with major publishers. He has a B.A. in physics from the University of Rochester, an M.A.in English Literature from the University of Wisconsin, and a PhD in biology from Rutgers University.
