Nigerian Center Opens Services in Washington, DC

Join the nation’s leading immigrant centers and the new Nigerian Center as they explore immigrants and financial inclusion the US

Washington, D.C, District of Columbia Apr 2, 2022 (Issuewire.com)  - APRIL 1, 2022 The Nigerian Center, an immigrant and cultural center established with the goal of providing financial inclusion and social justice opportunities for the US Nigerian American community, is officially launching its services nationwide at the upcoming virtual event, Immigrants Centers as a Conduit for Financial Inclusion, scheduled to be held on April 27th, 2022 at 5:30 pm EST.

The event will explore the topic of immigrants achieving financial inclusion by examining the best practices and insights from immigrant centers and community financial institutions (CDFIs) around the US. The initial Nigerian Center programs that will be officially launched at this event include immigration and naturalization support, small business capital and credit building, and homeownership assistance. The center will also offer Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo language, classes.

According to Gbenga Ogunjimi, Founder and Executive Center of the Nigerian Center,

“Across the country and around the world, immigrant community centers have been a proven strategy for financial inclusion for newly migrated individuals. These centers provide new arrivals with the necessary tools and guidance to navigate the systemic complexities of their new country, acquire the necessary tools for success, and ultimately accelerate their path towards self-sufficiency while becoming a contributing member of society.”
