Nurse Vows to Keep Family Story Alive in Debut Book

Book weaves intimate details to capture a family’s heritage

Tucson, Arizona Mar 19, 2019 (Issuewire.com)  - Nurse and author Rosie M. Elder narrate her family’s history and the past five decades of her life in her debut book “My First Fifty-Five.” The book is divided into sections, each describing the unique facets of the author’s family — from traditions down to religious practices and onward to education and careers.

For 35 years, the author worked as a nurse in Chicago while being an active member and choir director at the First Corinthian M.B. Church. Elder shares that music and performing arts have always been integral in her life. She joined several Easter and Christmas pageants and even landed a role in a fundraiser production at Waukegan Genesee Theater in 2011 and 2012. She says that she performs to keep her promise to lead others to God.

Elder believes in the importance of family heritage and leaving a positive legacy for generations to come. This is why she wrote the book in the first place — to leave a truthful account of her family’s rich history so that her grandchildren will have something to hold on to when she is no longer around.

Authors Press showcased “My First Fifty-Five” at the Tucson Festival of Books at the University of Arizona campus last March 2 to 3, 2019. Readers and festival goers got an exclusive preview of Elder’s writing during the festivities. To get the latest update on authors, like and follow Authors Press on Facebook and Twitter.
