As the campus turned into a platform for gearing up against the pandemic, the school observed social distancing norms in all other critical junctures. The OGC Class of 2021 graduated with remarkable academic performance and set a high bar for personal development. The school brought its academic excellence to display in the virtual graduation ceremony led by the Principal handing out words of profound inspiration and diplomas to each graduating student in the virtual event. While the event was organized to celebrate the academic excellence and holistic development of the graduating students, it also became a unifying event to restate the significance of health and continual growth while paying an ode to the dedicated academic team at Oberoi International School.
Harnessing Arts & Science for Holistic Development
As the school continued waving a cheerful farewell to its graduating students, the Careers Day 2021 for the students of grade 8th to 12th, attended by over 900 students, connected the young & imaginative ambitions of the students with the real world of opportunities. A dedicated community of parents, representatives, and volunteers conducted over 35 workshops delivering applied and fundamental information on career tracks in STEM and other vital areas, summer jobs, university admissions, and a dedicated session on the COVID-19 survival guide. The workshops equipped the young intellects of the school and prepared them for a fortuitous tomorrow.
The school's digital prowess has been growing at an unparalleled pace and was put to display with the Middle School Musical Debut: Best of Both the Worlds being released on June 04, 2021, on the OIS YouTube channel. The musical had an ensemble of 39 students from grades 6th, 7th, and 8th, along with a dedicated community of fans cheering them as they showcased their musical and theatrical skills, resembling the performers of tomorrow.
With painstaking work put in by a Music Team led by Ginelle, Madhav, Vishrut, and Teela and an Arts Team led by Riddhi, Varinder, and Achira, a delightful Arts Unlimited Exhibition was put on display. The event inspired the collective imagination of all the attendees. Another virtual event, a Zumba session for students of Grade 3, was conducted by Rohit Joshi, in line with the school’s ongoing initiatives to help students learn in innovative and safe formats.
While the students of OIS are known to be awe-inspiring performers, they are also known for their academic excellence and intellectual curiosity. Grade 11th and TOK Department students conducted the Theory of Knowledge Exhibition, a virtual event celebrating scientific inquiry with everyday phenomena. At the blending point of scientific curiosity and literature, another edition of the students-led Leopard Print magazine was released. The magazine was a well-researched amalgamation of a wide range of articles around the pandemic's impact on our sense of time, as well as a former shopaholic's take on the need for sustainable fashion. The school and its vast community celebrated the artistic, research-backed, and coherent magazine.
