Over 100 Celebrities with STDs Profiled in Media Research Project

An online study focusing on celebrities with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) proves fame and fortune are not prophylactic.

Los Angeles, California Apr 15, 2020 (Issuewire.com)  - STD Carriers Disease Control and Prevention Services kicked off Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Awareness Week by updating its list of over 100 Celebrities living with STDs for the first time in eight years. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recognizes this week of April as STD Awareness Week for calling attention to the impact of STDs while promoting STD testing across America. The Celebrities with STDs Project at STDCarriers.com aims to support that effort by showing everyday people that fame and fortune are not prophylactic.

The Celebrities with STDs Project focuses primarily on incurable STDs with emphasis given to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), hepatitis C, herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV2), human papillomavirus (HPV), and genital warts in men. HIV/AIDS came in first with 54 famous faces, Hepatitis C was second with 43, and Genital Herpes wrapped up the top three at a distant third with just 17 victims. HPV accounted for just 5 cases while Genital Warts in men has just one well-known sufferer.

Celebrities are also organized by occupational categories. The overwhelming majority are musicians with 31 profiles followed by 16 porn stars, 15 athletes, 11 actresses, 10 actors, 9 authors, 7 politicians, 5 journalists, 3 activists, and 3 reality stars.

Changes include the removal of 16 profiles about celebrities that died with STDs since 2012 and the addition of 26 new famous faces. All older profiles have been updated to include current videos and links to sources supporting their diagnosis.
