Eric Clapton certainly has 'IT'. Little Feat exhibited an abundance of 'IT'. The Allman Brothers Band most definitely had 'IT'. And Pat Murphy & Alligator Cowboys Band has 'IT' to burn! That exceptional 'IT' factor that we are referring to in this instance, is the phenomenal ability and versatility as master musicians to create and perform outstanding music, and master it in multiple genres; subsequently creating THE ULTIMATE in a broad audience and marketing appeal and fan appreciation. Whereas, there are many truly great artists whose music we have all loved, in their respective genres, subgenres and particular niches of music, only THE BEST OF THE BEST of true master musicians have THIS outstanding ability and ‘IT’ factor.

During the ‘down time’ caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic, and obviously missing performing the great live music that renowned and respected lead guitarist, slide player, frontman, lead vocalist, songwriter, and founder of The Alligator Cowboys Band, Pat Murphy, was re-discovering an absolute treasure trove of multiple decades worth of numerous musical projects that were never previously ‘officially’ commercially released. Just as finding these musical gems was a ‘divine appointment’, so it also was, to put them in the hands of long-lost, but long-time friend, Laura Jenney, of Mindsweep Entertainment & Promotions, who both happen to also call St. Augustine, Florida, home.

St. Augustine, Florida is known for being the nation’s oldest city in the Continental US, attracting in the neighborhood of 100 million tourists annually and of course, and known for some of the truly best of musical performers to be found anywhere. Upon settling in St. Augustine in the mid-1980s, (born in Covington, Kentucky to an Irish American family), Pat Murphy quickly founded the Alligator Cowboys Band, and pretty much DOMINATED the musical scene for decades, amongst some pretty prolific artists and bands who would perform in a town where the whole town’s literal survival depended on keeping millions of people highly entertained and thoroughly well rocked.

Because of performing in front of MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of people every year, from all over the nation and world, Pat Murphy & Alligator Cowboys Band gained an immense amount of recognition and impressively vast fan base, both nationally and worldwide, which also led to many years of touring extensively, throughout the US and Canada. …When I say that Pat Murphy and Alligator Cowboys Band performed “extensively” on tour, one example is 178 nights straight run of performing on tour, mostly ‘one nighter’, before they took a single night off, then they performed for another 96 nights straight with only two nights off, then performed for another 77 nights straight, before their next night off. …THAT’S the kind of ‘extensive’ we’re talking about.

Between the high caliber of truly great music that Pat Murphy and Alligator Cowboys Band has both created and performed, along with their level of being in such high demand, has earned Pat Murphy an induction in the St. Augustine Hall of Fame in 2020.

Upon receiving a copy of what equates to approximately 15 CDs worth of absolutely stellar musical performances, and fretboard blistering performances on guitar and slide by Pat Murphy, and extreme prowess of ALL members of Alligator Cowboys Band was no surprise at all to Promotions Specialist/Journalist, Laura Jenney of Mindsweep Entertainment & Promotions; as she was well aware for decades that Pat Murphy and band, were all world-class musicians. And for those who are not yet aware, Pat Murphy at the helm of Alligators Cowboys Band has a very distinct ‘signature’ sound on both electric guitar and slide, that if one had to describe Pat Murphy’s sound or caliber as a master guitarist, would be like Duane Allman, (of the Allman Brothers Band, Derek, and the Dominos, full-time sessions musician Muscle Shoals), meets Steve Morse, (of Dixie Dregs, Deep Purple, Kansas), meets Dickey Betts, (The Allman Brothers Band, The Dickey Band, Dickey Betts & Great Southern), meets Chet Adkins, in a Pat Murphy, swamp rock/swamp blues fusion sort of way, that ‘defines the sound, and a paints a musical picture’ of the swamps of ‘Lower South Dixie’, and the culture of Northeast Florida, that Pat Murphy & Alligator Cowboys are renowned for. What WAS absolutely surprising, was to discover that Pat Murphy & Alligator Cowboys’ did NOT send us 15 albums worth of Pat Murphy and Alligator Cowboys distinct signature sound, that we have been acquainted with and huge fans of for decades; (which we would have been absolutely thrilled enough with). …NO, FAR FROM IT!

What WAS absolute ‘minesweeping for music industry execs, Laura Jenney and Sondra Lee Willis, was that EACH one of those exceptional albums, were ALL performed in entirely different, and contrasting genres of each other! …Well, no wonder Pat Murphy and Alligator Cowboys Band are known for performing on 178 night straight runs without a night off! Besides consistently being booked for their own great signature sound of ‘Lower South Dixie swamp rock/swamp blues fusion’, Pat Murphy and Alligator Cowboys Band perform equally prolifically in genres ranging from rock, blistering progressive rock, blues, jazz/funk fusion, to old school, super cool and classy jazz, to Irish folk, Americana, to bluegrass, ‘bluesgrass’ and ‘swampgrass’, Gospel and beyond; which makes Pat Murphy and Alligator Cowboys pretty much ‘THE GO TO ACT’ for any larger venue, concert and/or festival for any of the above-mentioned genres! …(And a real smart choice for any concert or festival promoter.)

Of course, we at Mindsweep aren’t just going to tell you about it, we’re going to turn you on to just a few examples of the kind of versatility we are talking about. Patmurphyalligatorcowboysband.hearnow.com.

The link above incidentally comes from the promotional webpage of a brand new, smoking hot album, which was put together by Pat Murphy and Laura Jenney on February 15th, 2021, from that treasure trove of 15 albums or so, worth of great Pat Murphy & Alligator Cowboys Band’s music.… The first of plenty more to come! The album is titled, “Think I’m Going Crazy”, and all tracks on this album were either written or co-written by Pat Murphy himself; and is available for purchase at Apple Music, Amazon Music, iTunes, CD Baby, and all online affiliated music purchasing outlets.

Even though the album, “Think I’m Going Crazy” was just put together and uploaded to CD Baby, (and other online purchasing outlets as well), on February 15th, it is already highly anticipated and celebrated amongst fans and by the powers that be’ in the music industry alike; and is generating quite the buzz already! In fact, in a telephone conference between Pat Murphy, Laura Jenney, and well-known radio executive and personality, Gary Ek, of the radio station, X Key West 104.9, (www.xkeywest.com), declared that next week, (February 22nd – 28th), to be “Pat Murphy & Alligator Cowboys Band Week” at X Key West Radio 104.9! Pat Murphy & Alligator Cowboys’ new album, “Think I’m Going Crazy” is already receiving airplay on that station, (as well as others), and Pat Murphy himself will be featured on their programming sometime during “Pat Murphy & Alligator Cowboys Week” at X Key West Radio 104.9. …From the perspective of a promotions specialist in the music industry, (or pretty much ANY music industry exec), that’s a very strong indication of the potential success of this brand new album.

As you could hear for yourself from the link above, we weren’t kidding about the versatility and broad audience appeal that Pat Murphy & Alligator Cowboys Band delivers to their fans. And as you can imagine with approximately 15 albums worth of this amount of versatility, that was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Pat Murphy and Alligator Cowboy Band’s musical prowess, and is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the potential success of the exceptional other new albums soon to be released.

One of the albums, titled “Weapons of Math Destruction”, (subtitled “Soundtracks”), is even a multi-genre instrumental album written and performed expressly for the use in movies, commercials, and/or for use as TV theme songs and/or background music. However, “Weapons of Math Destruction” too will be amongst those that are also very soon to be released by Pat Murphy and Alligator Cowboys Band. …(The album is just too good not to release!)

Of course, once it is considered ‘safe’ from the Covid-19 Pandemic to perform live again, Pat Murphy and Alligator Cowboys Band are certainly looking forward to hitting the road and touring extensively once again to promote those outstanding CDs. Pat and Alligator Cowboys Band have expressed interest in even expanding his tour beyond just the US and Canada this time and would love to perform in such regions as all of Europe, especially Ireland, Scotland, England, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Poland, etc., also Mexico, Central, and South America, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, Asian destinations such as Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines and pretty much anywhere and everywhere that fans demand. Pat and Alligator Cowboys Band have also expressed a deep interest in performing for those that serve our nation in all branches of the US Military, on bases anywhere around the world.
