The song composed, produced, and sung by Phalgunn Maharishi and penned by Maanya Sogali is a tribute to the entire nation and will be released independently with Songdew on Aug 15, 2021. “Salaam India is a new patriotic song for the urban and energetic youth of the country. It is a tribute to everything that is Indian and a perfect portrayal of the feeling of being Indian and being a part of this beautiful country,” said Phalgunn. He further commented, "When I decided to create a new patriotic song, I was determined that I had to use ‘Salaam India’, and in fact, the hook of the song with the words Salaam India was the first melody I composed. Then, I approached Maanya if she could write lyrics around those words."
Salaam India, a patriotic song inspired by Dubstep and EDM genres carries the perfect sound texture designed carefully for the millennials. It features an upbeat rhythm with deep bass, cinematic strings, and piano arrangements along with rich layers of synthesisers blended with risers and SFX.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Phalgunn said, “I always wanted to do a patriotic song with a touch of modernity in it, and I simply love blending various cultures and genres in my song. This track is one such project where I have done so many things for the first time in my musical journey. It is in fact my first ever Dubstep-inspired song, and it was produced/recorded in my home studio.”
He also mentioned, “The song is all about showing our innate respect for the country. The tension in the song builds up gradually and the chorus section gives a goosebump experience, while the unique bridge is expected to fill the listener with patriotism.”
Outlining the overall experience of penning the song and the inspiration behind her words, Maanya Sogali said, "Patriotic songs are very difficult to write and personally, I didn't believe that I could write one. It was a great challenge, but we all know that there is no success without challenges. Being born as an Indian is in itself a great inspiration. The emotions were the main point highlighted in the lyrics."
She further added, "The music was beautiful already. So it was much easier to put my head and emotions into words. It felt really wonderful to write and I am absolutely flabbergasted at how beautiful the final result has turned out. I really hope it reaches every corner of India this Independence Day."
