Firefighters must endure searing heat, exposure to carcinogen, and other life-threatening conditions; paramedics are rigorously trained to respond to all types of injuries, from heart attacks and strokes to accident-related traumas, shootings, and drownings.
Founded in 2010 by a committed group of community activists and business leaders, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation serves to strengthen the overall preparedness and responsiveness of the LAFD. Our focus is on public safety: We support the department by helping to invest in equipment, training programs, and public outreach to help these men and women excel their jobs.
