Pools of Hope Expands Free Adaptive Aquatic Services for Veterans

New grant-funded programs and Veterans Celebration highlight Pools of Hope’s continued commitment to healing through water.

Long Beach, California Oct 29, 2025 (Issuewire.com)  - Pools of Hope is proud to announce the expansion of its Veterans Adaptive Aquatic Sports Program, providing free access to warm-water therapy, adaptive swim lessons, exercise classes, and recreational activities such as paddleboarding for veterans with disabilities.

This expansion is made possible through renewed funding from #Grants4Vets, allowing Pools of Hope to continue its mission of promoting physical rehabilitation, mental wellness, and social connection among veterans.

“Our Veterans have given so much, and this program allows us to give back in a way that strengthens their bodies and spirits,” said Patricia Dixon, Executive Director of Pools of Hope. “Warm water therapy is proven to relieve pain, improve mobility, and build community, and that’s what this program is all about.”

Pools of Hope’s ADA-accessible facility includes water wheelchairs, lifts, and adaptive equipment that ensures every participant, regardless of mobility level, can safely enjoy the benefits of aquatic movement.

Through this grant, the organization will work more closely with the VA community to connect veterans to customized water-based activities designed to meet their individual needs. Programs now include:

  • Adaptive Swim Lessons for safety, mobility, and confidence
  • Adaptive Swimming and Exercise for rehabilitation and relaxation
  • Adaptive Paddle Boarding to promote balance, strength, and fun

In celebration of this expansion, Pools of Hope will host a Veterans Appreciation Celebration at its Long Beach facility. The event will bring together local veterans, families, and community partners for a day of recognition, camaraderie, and healing through aquatic activities. Attendees will enjoy demonstrations, dinner, and opportunities to learn more about available services and enrollment.
