Here's chatting with young , enthusiastic Filmmaker Priyanka Raina who have created a huge mark on social media making short films. Her short films unlike Zindagi have hit 47 millions on you tube. Apart her other short films "Love lust locha" is airing on SONY LIV OTT platform. Apart from filmmaking, She had also been reviewing movies based on content. So here we get candid with Priyanka Raina talking on her journey on cinema, and her upcoming projects !
Q: First of all welcome to the show , Miss Priyanka Raina and tell us how making of "Short film" came into your mind?
Priyanka Raina- Thank you so much , and not exactly .... I never knew even the word of "short films" . Being just a theater student , I was actually planning to make album. When I actually started hunting lyrics writers and music team and all,Then a reputed director called and said "Why you want to make music album". then asked further questions , "Are you a lyrics writer or music composer or singer, you would be wasting money completely".
I was confused on what to do nd they further continued, " you are a writer. Write a small story and take this camera , shoot your vision and show". So that was time a new journey started with the making of my very first short film Clean and green India.
Q: Sounds great ! Who was you inspiration in Indian Cinema?
Priyanka Raina- As a child , first seen movie was HUM HAIN RAHI PYAAR KE and fell in completely love with Juhi Chawla and Aamir Khan. Yes they were the ones to get me into this wonderful world of Indian Cinema. I am total reader and Later after reading "Khullam Khulla" book by Rishi Kapoor sir , saw Raj Kapoor movies and then guess what - I became a total die hard fan of RAJ KAPOOR.
You see , those making with simplicity of Awara, Shree 420, AAH, Andaz, Barsaat, Chori Chori, Sangam, Dharma karam and Mera naam joker took heart completely. Was just discussing with friends, that in those days when there was no high technology and such great Cinema was made.
Q : According to you , can characters of Nargis and Madhubala be recreated in todays Cinema?
Priyanka Raina- Of Course we can , there are many talented actors on board. Just we need more educated and trained filmmakers who have knowledge of Indian Cinema.
Q: So when are we seeing your first movie as full fledged Director and will you be castig freshers or stars?
Priyanka Raina - Mine is a love story, and as you know Love story always looks good with new bees. because new comers are just transparent, which ever characters we put them in- They absorb it completely.
Like Kaho na pyaar hai or Love story o Ek duje ke liye or Bobby wouldn't have that charm if it had known actors in it. Its always the "Content" which creates Stars , but I think now a days these cooperates are seeing Stars for building up content and that's reason for fall of Bollywood with Bad cinema.
Q: So how would you describe Indian Cinema?
Priyanka Raina - Cinema which makes you fall in love sitting in theaters, Cinema which can make you feel pat of that journey, Songs which makes you listen again and again and....
Q: Talking on music , who according to you is best music director?
Priyanka Raina - I have huge fascination of old songs , 60s , 70s , 80s era and last talking was our childhood 90s listening to Anu Malik songs , Uttam Singh songs unlike Dil to pagal hai. We don't have such music anymore.
Q: Will we get good music again?
Priyanka Raina -Of coarse , as I said we need passionate music directors who has complete knowledge of music , old songs and everything else apart, Songs which can make you fall in love with.
Q: What is the one thing you discovered in "Lockdown"?
Priyanka Raina - Oh was it "Lockdown" , That was time I made more then short you tube films like never before on social messages. Also I made short film with Prem Chopra sir, Rakesh Bedi discussing on video calls and then shooting at our respective homes.
One thing apart filmmaking , I discovered my painting back into my life and "Cycling" at least when gym were closed, so could get my working by cycling .
