London, United Kingdom Jul 25, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Producer- composer Andrés Markmann and singer-songwriter Diego Poupin Reveal ‘the new normal and how to form a band during a Pandemic
The adage 'music is the language of angels' cannot be better represented by DPM’s debut single "Where The Angels Speak". With highly poetic lyrics, flavours of the early nineties synth-pop with layers of electronica and country music. The two childhood best friends who reunited after three decades since losing contact are clearly searching for a language of contrast.
DPM is an electronic duo consisting of primary school best friends Andrés Markmann now a resident of NYC and Diego Poupin from London. After finding each other on social media in late 2019, they quickly started a remote collaboration. Throughout the pandemic, they wrote over one hundred songs and recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered thirty songs curated in six EP’s: Alpha, Beta, Gama, Delta, Epsilon, and Zeta in a complete remote setting.
“We have only seen each other for one day. After recording our first bunch of songs, we decided to go home to our home country Chile and perform a little gig. Back in London, I started to perform some gigs every week. Things were picking up. Then Covid came with the closure of all music venues. The game was over, and the search for imaginative ways of connecting with audiences became a necessity.” Explains frontman Diego Poupin,
“We didn't choose or wanted our project to be of a remote and collaborative nature, but this became the new normal and we wanted to bring music back to the community. Diego is relentless and stoppable when it comes to creating content, reaching out to other collaborators, and bringing people together”. Comments Andrés Markmann whose trajectory in music production is vast and ranges from publishing, tv, and film.
The footage that came out from initiatives such as their Social Distance Summer Sessions, where neighbours were able to watch and listen safely through their windows, resulted in a short documentary entitled How To Form A Band in A Pandemic, now an official selection at Osaka Film Festival in Japan, where they are now semi-finalists, in the category of Best Short Documentary.
“We have a strong story about the power of communications. That force that music has got that brings people together. And also the resilience that artists must have to survive during these exponential times that have already transformed how the music industry operates” explains Diego.
When asked about their goals and expectations, Diego reveals: "We want to develop a small brand that can be sustainable. That can resonate within the target audience of people possibly around our age range and who share a passion and nostalgia for the late eighties and early nineties synth-pop and electronica, so in that way, we can continue to create music and develop our skills".
Where The Angel Speaks can be streamed in all major music streaming services or can be played for free at www.MusicDPM.com.
