“I treat my patients like my family and always try to bring a smile to my patients and their loved ones. In a difficult time of their life, I want to work as a health coach and help patients make the best individual decisions that fit their goals and choices” he stated.

From his extensive training and attention to health economics, Dr. Khan is an asset to the Christ Hospital Health Network’s vision to be a national leader in clinical excellence, patient experience, and affordable care.

Earning his Bachelor of Medicine, and Bachelor of Surgery degree, he graduated with honors from Khyber Medical College Peshawar in Pakistan in 2002. After completing his residency in Pakistan, he moved to the United States of America in 2008 to pursue further postgraduate training. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, serving as Chief Resident before working as a hospitalist for over seven years. For two years, Dr. Khan dedicated himself to the Academic Blood and Marrow Transplant program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he worked under the supervision of Dr. Guido Tricot, a world-leading multiple myeloma expert.

Before relocating to Cincinnati and becoming the Chief Research Fellow of the Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Program at the University of Cincinnati, he concentrated on health economics, earning his MBA from the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst. He also worked with leading experts in the field of hematology and lymphoma.

With years of experience, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Possessing a vast amount of clinical research experience, Dr. Khan is published in National and internationally PubMed-indexed medical journals. He has published and presented his research at the International Liver Cancer Meeting in Canada, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Society of Hematology (ASH), and the American Society of Bone Marrow Transplantation.

Teaching is essential to Dr. Khan, who worked as teaching faculty at Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa and is interested in teaching and mentoring medical residents through the ASCO mentorship program. He is now a part of the faculty at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia, and lymphoma.

Throughout his career, Dr. Khan has won many research and academic awards, including the Best Graduate Award in Medical School, the Research Chief Fellow Award, first place in Clinical Research at the University of Cincinnati in the Annual Research Symposium, and a grant from ACGME. He attributes much of his success to his passion for helping people and to the continuous support of his parents, teachers, and friends.

When not with patients, he enjoys traveling, running, watching sports, gardening, and spending quality time with his wife and two children (a daughter and a son).
