New York City, New York Feb 22, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - Debra graduated with her Bachelor Of Science in Nursing and certified as a Registered Nurse from the Winona State Technical School in 1987, giving her over three decades of experience in her field. She holds additional certification as an Occupational Health Nurse Specialist.
To stay up to date in her field she remains a professional member of the Michigan Safety Council, Emergency Nurses Association, and Phi Eta Gamma. She currently practices as a Gemba Coordinator and Registered Nurse in Urgent Care at Winona Health. As Gemba Coordinator, Debra works under the Service Line leader and Manager as a resource for issues, coaching, real-time problems that occur during the 12-hour work shift in Urgent Care. She also works the floor as needed when there are ill calls and fills in as necessary to help staff when the census takes a rather big jump during the shift. The term “gemba” means to go and see what is really happening rather than talk about it, read about it, or try to recall it from memory. “Nothing short of actually doing the work gives one quite the same perspective on a process as seeing it firsthand. There is a feel to the flow of work that you can’t otherwise experience”, says Debra.
Furthermore, she owns and operates an Occupational Health Nurse Contractor company. She provides local business and industry with onsite services, such as hearing tests, hearing conservation training, respirator medical clearance, fit testing and training, vision screening, BBP training, 1st Aid/CPR/AED training, pulmonary function testing, hair drug testing, breath alcohol testing, and occupational health consultations. Debra also ensures onsite custom molded hearing protection services, made to fit each employee, reduce the overall cost of buying hearing protection, and decrease environmental waste.
Debra attributes her professional success to the support of her husband, and her desire and love of being a nurse. When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband and family.
