Fair Lawn, New Jersey Jan 9, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - The public is invited to warm up on a cold winter night with award-winning chili at the Kickin’ Kickoff for the Relay For Life of Glen Rock and Fair Lawn on Thursday, January 31 at Glen Rock High School at 7:00 p.m. The event will feature special guest, Chef Eric LeVine, the 2011 champion of the Food Network’s “Chopped” and survivor of five kinds of cancer within a ten-year period. In fact, he was in treatment for rare acute leukemia during the taping of “Chopped” and despite dealing with the side effects, took the top prize. Now in remission, LeVine advocates for the American Cancer Society and has been recognized by the Society with its prestigious Heart and Soul Award.
At the kickoff event, LeVine will share his story with attendees, who will also learn about how to get involved in the Glen Rock and Fair Lawn Relay for Life, which benefits the American Cancer Society. They will enjoy delicious chili samples prepared by LeVine as well as by Robert Quinones, the New Jersey’s 2018 Chili Award winner. Quinones served his chili at last year’s Relay for Life event to much acclaim. The snow date for the kickoff is February 6. Relay for Life is the signature fundraiser of the American Cancer Society and the world’s largest fundraising event dedicated to fighting cancer. The Glen Rock-Fair Lawn event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., June 1-2, 2019 at the Glen Rock High School football field at 600 Harristown Road, Glen Rock. During Relay, team members take turns walking around a track continuously to signify that cancer never sleeps; teams also set up themed campsites and participants enjoy entertainment, games, and activities. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers from the community. Individuals, families and local companies are encouraged to form teams to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.
