Miami, Florida Aug 15, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Rochelle Lightfoot’s Love Jazz & Soul Experience Raises Awareness for National Minority Organ Donation Month
Rochelle Lightfoot, the award-winning singer-songwriter, producer, and local artist in Miami’s music community, is using her platform to raise awareness for National Minority Organ Donation Month. As a living organ donor herself, Lightfoot is passionate about advocating for organ donation in communities of color and aims to demystify the importance of organ donations. Through a partnership with the Florida Organ Transplant Association (FOTA), she hopes to inspire more minorities to become organ donors and save lives.
August is National Minority Donor Awareness Month, an extension of National Minority Donor Awareness Week, which was established in 1996 by the National Minority Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program (MOTTEP). This month aims to bring heightened awareness to organ donation and transplantation in multicultural communities, with a specific focus on African American, Caribbean, Hispanic/Latino, Asian/Pacific Islander, and Native American communities. The goal is to save and improve the quality of life in diverse communities by promoting a positive culture around organ, eye, and tissue donation.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, minority populations, including African Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, and others, are disproportionately affected by organ failure. This disparity highlights the need for active promotion of organ donation within these communities.
"We believe that music has the incredible power to bridge boundaries and bring communities together," said Clarissa V. Willis, from Naima Productions, Lightfoot’s management agency. "By partnering with the Florida Organ Transplant Association, we are using our platform to draw attention to the critical need for organ donations within communities of color. We hope to inspire individuals to take action and make a difference."
As part of their awareness campaign, Rochelle Lightfoot will be hosting a captivating concert and 5-Star dining experience called "Rochelle Lightfoot’s Love, Jazz & Soul Dinner Concert Experience" on September 23, 2023, at the Florida International University - Biscayne Bay Wolfe Center Grand Ballroom. The event will start at 5:00 pm and feature Rochelle Lightfoot and her 12-piece band, along with performances by international saxophonist Jesse Jones Jr., jazz pianist Thierry Dejean, and soul singers LeNora Jaye and Steven Rios. Attendees will also enjoy a delectable three-course dining experience prepared by Master Chef Patrick Beaulieu. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships will benefit FOTA, and there will be an Emerald Silent Auction held at the event.
Tickets for the Love Jazz & Soul Dinner Concert Experience can be purchased at the official website www.lovejazzsoul.com. By attending the event or becoming a sponsor, individuals can not only enjoy an enchanting evening but also contribute to raising awareness about organ donation within communities of color and support Florida donors as they provide the "Gift of Life" to transplant recipients in need.
To further promote the cause, Love Jazz & Soul will launch a social media campaign using the hashtag #LJSDonate4Life. This campaign aims to encourage individuals to share their personal stories, offer words of encouragement, and spread awareness about the life-saving benefits of organ donation. Love Jazz & Soul will leverage their online reach to inspire discussions and promote action across various digital platforms.
