Asheville, North Carolina May 6, 2024 (Issuewire.com) - Evan Golden joined the WrestleRoni Indie Wrestling Podcast to discuss the latest in professional wrestling, and in this informative interview, the second-generation wrestler talks about the new National Wrestling Alliance territories as well as his record-setting reign as SOM Hybrid Champion.
Lou at WrestleRoni:
We are here with former SOM Hybrid Champion - the longest reigning SOM Hybrid Champion in history - "The Golden Child" Evan Golden. How are we feeling?
Evan Golden:
I'm feeling well man, thank you for having me on the show.
Lou at WrestleRoni:
You've been shining. I like you because you're confident. You're not confident to the point of being arrogant or cocky - you know what your strengths are and you utilize them. Props to you, man. School of Morton - NWA-JCP, you are one of their new signings. You've been killing it. SOM sent in a question. They want to know - how much better of a champion will Santiago be than you?
Evan Golden:
I'll answer their question and I'll be a professional. I'm confident my reign as champion was very impressive. It doesn't matter so much how you remain champion as long as you leave with the title around your waist. We'll just have to see. Judging by me being in the ring with Santiago, he's a fantastic athlete. However, I think it's going to take a lot of motivation and development for him to show SOM what I did as champion. All the best of luck to him, but I'm the one who made history.
Lou at WrestleRoni:
For the folks at home who are not aware - how long did you hold the belt?
Evan Golden:
I think it was a little over 240 days, which is awesome. The numbers don't lie.
Lou at WrestleRoni:
In indie wrestling, there aren't a whole lot of folks who can go out and have their own talk segment. How did your talk show 24 Karat Gold come about?
Evan Golden:
As soon as I showed up to SOM they realized I liked to talk. Most of the time they didn't want me to, but I did anyway and they eventually decided to give me my own segment. I was challenging all of these different competitors and 24 Karat Gold was born. It's awesome. SOM wants to ask how much better of a champion Santiago is, and guess what - I can have Santiago on my show and ask him myself.
Lou at WrestleRoni:
NWA-JCP is now an NWA territory and you're a part of it. What can you tell me?
Evan Golden:
NWA-JCP is owned and operated by Joe Cazana and Billy Corgan. Dr. Tom Prichard is involved. The right people noticed The Golden Child in action. What NWA is doing by bringing the territories back is fantastic. A territory system is what brings success in a big way to professional wrestling. I'm so excited to be a part of an official NWA territory. It's going to be great for professional wrestling and I'm excited to see what goals I can accomplish.
Evan Golden wrestling for a National Wrestling Alliance territory will see him following in his father's footsteps. His father, Eddie Golden, notably performed at NWA Wildside and NWA Smoky Mountain and was a record three-time NWA Wildside Television Champion during his career.
