South Australia, Australia Sep 2, 2018 (Issuewire.com) - The Strathalbyn Racing Club has been named the Most Outstanding Club of the Year at Saturday night's Thoroughbred Racing Industry Awards and Hall of Fame Dinner in recognition of the club's outstanding 2017-18 season.
The club, which held 14 race meetings across the season, including the highly popular Langhorne Creek Cup and the Strathalbyn Cup, beat out a field of 24 clubs to win the award.
After a stellar year on and off the track, the club bettered its performance in all key metrics - including attendances, membership, and sponsorship - to ensure 2017/18 was one of the successful years in the club’s 97-year history.
Business Development Manager Kristy Martin said the highly coveted award was recognition for the hard work of the committee, club management and the club’s small team over the past twelve months.
"To be named the most outstanding club of the year, against impressive competition, is a huge result for the Strathalbyn Racing Club and is a big win for our beautiful town," Kristy said.
“We kicked off the season with a clear vision to raise our profile as a tourist attraction, elevate our corporate image, drive demand for our venue spaces and create a true race day experience at Strathalbyn.

"Earlier this year, the Strathalbyn Cup drew the largest crowd since 2014 - an increase of 21% on previous years.
"Meanwhile, membership and race day attendance increased by a whopping 25% in 2017-18."While we attracted more people through our gates, we continued our focus on developing our facilities and grounds with a range of improvements undertaken in 2017-18.
