Tackling the menace of e-waste through recycling

Peterborough, England Jun 18, 2018 (Issuewire.com)  - Research has shown that electronic waste otherwise known as e-waste one of the fastest growing environmental pollutants. E-waste includes all broken, unusable or obsolete electronic devices, components, and materials. Unfortunately, with technology becoming obsolete only after a short time after it is purchased, the problem of e-waste seems to have come to stay.

Recently Plasticwaste has been getting a lot of attention. However, studies have shown that e-waste is a more threatening phenomenon in various ways. A study has demonstrated that plastic consumer products such as takeout containers and children’s toys are manufactured from black plastic e-waste, which means that they contain dangerous heavy metals and other such toxic compounds. The situation might get even worse as electronic waste is predicted to hit the region of 52.2 million metric tonnesin a couple of years.

Research has shown that e-waste is causing more pollution to the environment. In the UK alone each person produces 25KG e-waste. However, people fail to talk about the issue of e-waste and the effects, especially as it seems everyone is guilty particularly as new phones are bought every year.

However, the negative effects of e-waste on the environment due to containing potentially harmful components such as lead, cadmium, beryllium, or brominated flame retardants have made it imperative for the world to embrace the 3R’s of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, which seems to be only popular with other items like paper and plastics.

The somewhat unpopularity of the 3R’s when it comes to e-waste could be due to the lack of the right channels to reuse and recycle electronics like mobile phones and other such gadgets. Fortunately, some platforms have been developed to reduce the volume of e-waste by allowing people to reduce the number of new gadgets purchased and used.

Handtec and SellPhone24 are two of such platforms, offering a wide range of premium quality refurbished phones to users, with SellPhone24 allowing people to receive the cash value for any mobile device they no longer want, consequently helping them to recycle such phones.
