Street art in lockdown

Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire Jun 14, 2020 (Issuewire.com)  - Tamworths Arts group New Urban Era commissioned Artists N4T4 to paint Her Majesty the Queen as part of this year's Tamworths Urban arts festival.

The new mural is to mark 40 years of the Queens visit to the Town and the opening of Ankerside shopping centre.

Vic Brown founder of Nue says.

" The mural is a stunning representation of Her Royal Highness the Queen of England and we really hope to get her on public display as soon as possible.

We had some great plans to work with the Ankerside shopping center in 2020 but unfortunately, the current situation has prevented us from doing so. We really hope the Tamworth public get behind the local retailers when they reopen this month. We will continue to support where possible with our art crawl project that aims to bring artworks to the town centre attracting visitors and locals to enjoy the art"

Nue's Art crawl project is now underway and will see new artwork from artist Jeff Evens who is painting the Staffordshire regiments Watchman mascot.

Nue have also commissioned top street artist Gnasher, Title and Nyces to paint England captains Harry Kane, Steph Houghton and legend Bobby Moore. The mural is on permanent display at Tamworth enterprise college.

It's doesn't stop there New Urban era will also be extending the Cycleways Arts Trail. A project that was started last year with at least Six new Murals being added in 2020.

The Annual Urban arts festival planned for the 27th June will also be streamed live online via the New Urban Era NUE Facebook page with over 20 Artists expected to take part from locations across the UK and is thought to be the only event of its kind.

Vic Brown adds

" We will continue to work towards the delivery of our art program as best as we can during this difficult time and have worked hard to adapt to the current situation.

It's not all gloom tho some changes have been such a success we plan to continue in the future and our participation numbers have never been so high after the introduction of our online Workshops and Unity Mural project.

We would like to thank all our partners and sponsors who continue to support us along with our funder's Arts Council England and Tamworth borough council".
