Taste The Caribbean Food Festival - Little Jamaica - July 22 & 23

Experience the Caribbean fusion through foods, drinks and artisans at the free event.

Toronto, Ontario Jul 14, 2023 (Issuewire.com)  - Taste The Caribbean Food Festival returns to Little Jamaica this July 22 & 23, 2023 with over 40 food, drink, and marketplace vendors over the 2-day event. Savour food and drinks from Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Guadaloupe, Dominica, Haiti, and more without leaving YYZ. Award-winning food truck Island Grill GTA brings the mouth-watering jerk poutines while Ti Kay La Foods returns with their St Lucian fish cakes and jerk pork belly.

Last year’s eat-til-ya-belly-buss plantain and rum shot-o-clock competitions united attendees from all cultural backgrounds. ‘Spreading the diversity and raising awareness of the Caribbean fusion that exists amongst the islands are key reasons why we are working with small businesses in our communities,” beams Sandi Folkes, Executive Director of Carifestival and Producer of Taste The Caribbean.

Discover the island feel through live DJ sets, reggae artists, and tassa performers, and groove to the sounds of the steelpan. With many fun, free family activities scheduled throughout the weekend including a painting workshop and a kids’ craft & play zone, it gives festival-goers a chance to relish in all aspects of the event.

Taste The Caribbean Food Festival will take place at 1609 Eglinton Avenue West, at Oakwood Avenue (under the Green P), and is a rain-or-shine event. Get your free admission tickets on Eventbrite at: http://www.tastethecaribbean2023LJ.eventbrite.com

“With small businesses struggling as the economy is going through its ebbs and flows, keeping our Caribbean businesses at the forefront is more important now than ever. The 3-week Dining Series was created to give additional exposure to our Caribbean Chefs and Restaurants during a particularly busy tourist season when there may be an over-saturation of events and places to eat at. We ask that you continue to support those local Caribbean restaurants across the GTA. We thank the City and the local BIAs like York-Eglinton BIA who recognize when we invest in our businesses, we all flourish,” Folkes continues.

Look out for Taste The Caribbean Food Festival to appear in the St Lawrence Market area on August 6, just in time for Toronto Caribbean Carnival weekend as tourists and locals explore the city. Summer ends with the 2-day festivities on September 2nd and 3rd as the streets come alive with performances, the smell of grilled foods, and the cultural explosion that the Caribbean is known to share.
