New York City, New York Apr 7, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Dr. Manning recently transitioned from a primary care physician in family medicine at a community care clinic in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to now an urgent care physician at Convenient Care Plus at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre hospital.
Tending to children and adolescents, she has experience in several services such as gender affirming care and women’s health. She prescribes hormone therapy for transgender patients who are transitioning, and is certified in Nexplanon, Mirena, and Paragard IUD placement and removal.
A 2017 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Dr. Manning went on to perform her residency in family and social medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, where she served as chief resident from 2020-2021 and received the 2021 outstanding house officer award.
With a background in public health and international medicine, she earned her Master of Public Health degree from the Milken Institute School of Public Health of George Washington University in 2021. She is currently working on her Master of International Health degree, which she is expected to receive in June of 2024.
Specializing in comprehensive healthcare for people of all ages, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.
Continuously advancing her efforts, Dr. Manning is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians.
Passionate about writing, she has made contributions to the magazines in-Training and in- House. She is one of the co-authors of “Commemorative Naming, Renaming, and the Role of Medical History in Academic Medicine” published in December 2022 in Journal of History of Medicine and Allied Sciences. She has also served as both a panelist and speaker, and her research interests are in women’s health, sex work, and LGBTQIA.
Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. Among her charities and philanthropic endeavors, Dr. Manning is involved with Compassion International, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Sunflower House. From January of 2012 until February of 2013, she served as the Operations Administrator at Starkville Bridges, a non-profit organization that she established in her hometown in Starkville, Mississippi to address the needs of working class individuals.
Outside of practicing medicine, she enjoys scrapbooking. Her favorite place to vacation is at the beach.
