Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand Nov 9, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Thailand’s Biggest Amateur Football Tournament, The Hua Hin World Cup, Celebrates 10 Years of Success
Dubbed ‘The Real World Cup’ by the 200-plus competitors taking part, The 2022 Hua Hin World Cup celebrates its 10th year of success.
An impressive 16 teams containing 192 players will play 72 matches spanning over two days. The Hua Hin Football World Cup has become Thailand's biggest and most anticipated amateur football tournament.
The 7-a-side football extravaganza places community and fun at the heart of the event. The championship will be on the 10th and 11th of December 2022 at True Arena. Players will enjoy playing on some of Thailand's best FIFA standard real grass football pitches.
Hua Hin itself is the perfect location. Fairly central for teams travelling across Thailand. It is also famous for tourists due to its beautiful beaches, mountains, viewpoints, dining establishments, and overall happy vibe.
Recent tournament winners include Thailand, Sweden, Ireland, and Finland. Teams are encouraged to source as many players as possible from their nationality, but it's common for teams to field players from various countries. "We're flexible on this as it adds to the fun, but insists that the tournament doesn’t become too ‘tribal’. We’re all here to enjoy the tournament in a fun way and play some competitive but fair football.
The organiser, Viking Club Hua Hin, is best described as an informal sports and community social club consisting of local and international members of all ages.
Thomas Andersson, one of the original Viking members and the current Viking Club Hua Hin boss, said: "10 years have gone quickly. And the last few years especially have seen exponential growth for this tournament. People book up almost a year in advance to reserve their spot! We even have teams flying in from abroad to participate in what is always an enjoyable weekend. The tournament brings people together from all walks of life and parts of the world in a competitive yet fun way. This year, we're adding to the event with more things to do for general members of the public and children that want to spectate. There will be a food and drinks area, kids' play, competitions, and sponsor tents.
