Charleston, South Carolina Oct 2, 2018 (Issuewire.com)  - The International Gullah Film Festival will be held Friday, November 2nd and Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 in Georgetown, SC.

The mission of The International Gullah Film Festival (TIGFF) is a two- day event of International short, feature and documentary films, youth, programs and interactive panel discussions to encourage filmmakers to explore and tell visual stories based on the rich history of Gullah culture. With a spirit of national and international inclusion, TIGFF also strives to spotlight talented filmmakers and storytellers from around the world. This film festival is as much about pride for people of Gullah descent as it is about our place in the global community.

The multi-layered beneficial impacts of TIGFF include adding new jobs to the community, encouraging the use of facilities, increase local cultural tourism, influence local film projects and desired film locations, and introduce filmmaking education and experience to youth and young adults.

Our featured 2018 Selections are feature film, The Boo, a Southern-gothic thriller about a bereaved small-town sheriff and his recently widowed, estranged, sister-in-law who must acknowledge the external forces they must extinguish to overcome the internal loss of their spouses, and feature documentary Wilmington on Fire:  In 1898, Wilmington was North Carolina's largest city, with a majority black population, a thriving black middle class, and a biracial Republican-Populist fusion government. On November 10, an armed mob of Democrat-backed white supremacists opened fire on African American neighborhoods, slaughtering hundreds and driving thousands out of the city for good.
