Auburndale, Florida Dec 14, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - The new focus is on when the AICPA receives the exam data files by, not when the student takes the exam.
Students often plan their exam dates based up when they will receive their CPA exam scores. Because of this, the AICPA offers a schedule of when CPA exam scores are released. In the past, the score release date was based on when the student took the exam. Now, the score release date is based on when the AICPA receives the exam data file.
Why does this matter? Once a student takes the exam at a testing center, the center then sends the exam file to the AICPA. This process tends to take 1-2 days. Therefore, if a student wants to fall within a specific score release date, they must ensure to take the exam several days before the cut-off date. For example, if the AICPA receives a student’s exam data file by December 8, 2022, then the target release date is December 16, 2022. The student should take the exam several days before December 8, however, to provide time for the testing center to send the exam data file to the AICPA.
Students should adjust to this minor change in order to not unknowingly fall into the next testing window. Given the prior exam date example, if the AICPA does not receive the exam data file by December 8, 2022, then the student would not receive their score back until January 10, 2023.
