These were established either by monks or by the rulers. In Madhya Pradesh, there are more than 200 of such sites and we wish to showcase them to the world, particularly in South East Asia where a majority of practicing Buddhists reside and are keen to travel to pilgrimage sites connected to Lord Buddha.”

The event will be followed by two destination roadshows in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Madhya Pradesh Tourism will showcase its enchanting diversity of wildlife, rich cultural heritage, and spirituality at these events being held in coordination with the Embassy of India, Kuala Lumpur, and Phnom Penh.  The roadshows will see participation from some of the best accommodation providers in the state. The Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC) will present its range of picturesque and locally-flavored hotels and resorts. Mr. Shukla says about the two upcoming roadshows: "South East Asia is an important potential source market for tourists and we will look to popularise our destination and introduce the audience to the new developments in the tourism sector in Madhya Pradesh.
