Melbourne, Victoria Aug 28, 2018 (Issuewire.com)  - A new gin distillery has launched in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria, crafting their gin to cater to the Australian premium spirit market with beautiful glass bottles featuring the work of a local artist. Big Tree Gin is now branching out nationwide after launching online.

Big Tree Distillery is the result of a gin-loving husband and wife team who love good gin so much they decided to make their own. Catherine and Gary are devoted to bringing Australia a truly home-grown and delicious premium gin that showcases native botanicals.

Big Tree Gin is distilled in the Macedon Ranges region of Victoria, on Jack’s Springs Farm and they produce a range of farm crafted small batch Australian gins with one big difference. You’ll receive a premium gin in a bottle that’s a real work of art.

Big Tree bottles are designed to be kept long after the gin is gone, with artwork painted by local artist Sarah Gabriel with limited editions of each piece in the series. There are four illustrations in the series, all artworks illustrating gin botanicals, some unique to Australia and showcasing the birds that visit the farm at Jack's Springs. The first in the series features the New Holland Honey Eater and the Tasmanian Pepper Berry that grows in the Macedon Ranges.

Big Tree Gins are created by using the finest ingredients, collecting fresh rainwater from the farm to create a gin that is truly memorable. Some gin botanicals are grown, and some are sourced off-farm, but where possible Catherine and Gary pick and forage some of the more interesting Australian gin botanicals as locally as possible with the help of their gin loving botanist.

As it says on the bottle, Big Tree is distilled by people who love their gin, and this is one to be remembered by anyone who appreciates a higher quality gin. With three varieties so far, there is something for everyone:

  • Elegant Dry – Deliciously smooth, with citrus and juniper this is the traditional gin. Beautifully aromatic and smooth the Elegant Dry Gin is the classic sshout-out to the London Dry Gin style.
  • Claude Navy Strength - Robust and wonderful, Claude Navy Strength gin has a hint of the Australian bush. The heavy hitter farm crafted gin that is full flavour (Navy Strength) with a delicate touch of Southern Sassafras foraged from the Victorian mountains.
  • Seasonal (currently cumquat) - Always guided by the seasons on the farm, the distilling duo decided to have a bit of fun and produce an ever-changing gin to reflect the seasons and life on the farm. These beautiful gins are carefully thought out with much trial and error to perfect recipes, forage and pick produce that are lovely and seasonal.

Big Tree distillery is one to be watched, quickly growing a support base among bars and restaurants in Victoria and now NSW impressed by the standard of this new homegrown gin.

Big Tree Gin is distilled by two people who love their gin, for others who share that love.
