District of Columbia, United States Jul 22, 2018 (Issuewire.com) - Let’s just assume we all feel some sort of anxiety for Iyanla Vanzant after all things didn’t go too well the last time they all got together. An audience of over one million tuned in to catch the host, healer, mental health advocate and pastor slinging names and hurling insults toward the broken vessels, or as Vanzant so viciously and violently declared, “guttersnipe!” Vanzant later apologized - as most abusers do, she also somehow managed to entice these wounded individuals into her faux fix follies. We near closer to Saturday, August 11th when over 1 Million viewers will tune into the Oprah Winfrey Network to watch Iyanla Vanzant abuse, misuse and misconstrue any hint-hope or hydrant of healing.
There’s no real expectation of genuine understanding and care, or even a “keep your head up” text is extended beyond “the wrap” of the show and this is to be understood. However, Iyanla Vanzant and ratings booster Neffeteria “Neffe” Pugh are like oil and water, night and day, and let’s dare say real versus fake. Vanzant threw in the towel with sweat drops still dripping from her brow. Judgement sealed, “no hope,” says the pastor. So, why are they back Iyanla? By her own standards, they are unfixable like a busted out flat. Suddenly there is an expectation that “The Return of Neffe and Soullow” will breathe new life in the viewers.
Vanzant's title of Executive Producer demands that she deliver great ratings. As we can see she is all about giving the viewers a show. We predict neither she nor the network will be disappointed but maybe she should be ashamed.
In all complete and total fairness, Neffeteria and Shelby both signed up for this, but they signed up with an expectation to be fixed! Let’s remember they are broken, broken people make questionable decisions but when you are the healer, the fixer, at some point you must be willing to heal - even when the cameras aren’t rolling and the sponsors aren’t paying.
When speaking to Neffeteria she had this to say, “I went back to get strengthened for myself, I was pretty much already done with Shelby, this was not a secret. I ultimately agreed to go wanting to be a better person period, and the best example to my kids, Iyanla had a different agenda, it was clear and how she handled me again, especially - but guess what, I’m not broken!” This is also the title of her new book “I’m NOT Broken” a page turner where she speaks candidly about her “relationship” with Iyanla and her husband. Already flagged and tagged by Amazon as a #1 New Release in Drama there is no denying the connection she has with an engagingly diverse fanbase of readers and television viewers.
During her high-profile journey which has resulted in fame, shame, even divorcing her “lame”, and now - redefining her name, Neffeteria clears the path of confusion, disappointment, anger, fear and even isolation. She makes moves toward longer moments of pure happiness and prays that her daughters can and will forgive her. Neffeteria’s desire to answer all questions forthright begins a healing process within the most wounded and unattended layers of being, becoming and beyond. She is determined to shred the threads of generational dysfunction, she didn’t get here alone, and even if it means she carries this burden alone, she’s prepared and ready to stroll into the rest of her life, but… first-things-first - her daughters.
Being a daughter, one of many and then having a daughter of your own is a unique yet, universal experience. Let’s face it, this mother-daughter relationship is a trying alliance and testing kinship. A connection that is quite truthfully only survived by the strongest. Neffeteria intends to survive it all! She’s joining NFL Dallas Cowboy, David Irving on a highly anticipated audiobook. A children’s book series titled, “The Adventures of Olivia Glass & Turkeyboy” Neffetria voices the hilarious and sassy Auntie Gladys. Pugh beams, “My kids LOVE IT! They love this Turkeyboy story, the book is about families fighting back and that pretty much describes us right now and ’it feels good to have my grandson Tyler hear my voice and laugh. It’s having a positive influence on us that I didn’t even expect, I think anybody going thru anything painful with your family will appreciate this story and will feel the same way. And I just love being the voice of Auntie Gladys she kinda reminds me of “Whilona” from “Good Times!!!” She’s ready to break cycles and shut down the haters because, in the end, they really don’t matter.” Neffeteria’s new book, “I’m NOT Broken!” is available now and is full of gripping stories and lessons we all can relate to. Between these fast-moving pages is the truth as only Neffeteria can tell it, and please believe her when she says, “I’m NOT Broken!”
