Sydney, New South Wales Jul 16, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Tech startup TimeChi is launching a solution on Indiegogo July 20th to boost workforce productivity, spark creativity and motivation while supporting mental and physical well-being - through a remarkably simple push of a button.
Based on scientifically proven methods such as timeboxing and the Pomodoro technique, TimeChi helps boost worker productivity and satisfaction by providing structure and routine through customized focussed periods. The connected device blocks distracting websites and notifications and manage physical interruptions with a traffic light display to let others know when you’re in deep work and when to come back. In addition, the smart device encourages frequent breaks, a crucial ingredient for natural team collaboration, and a secret weapon for improving cognitive function, creativity, and well-being which ultimately results in better work/life balance.
How TimeChi works
TimeChi seamlessly connects to an unlimited number of devices such as your smartphone and laptop via WiFi, where it is programmed to automatically set your phone to "do not disturb mode", block access to time-wasting websites and digital notifications. Similar to a Fitbit, the smart device helps to improve your productivity with a personalized analytics dashboard to help you identify patterns in your workflow.
At launch, TimeChi is integrated with Slack to automatically silence notifications, and unlike headphones, the device also provides others with a countdown so they know when to come back for a chat. The TimeChi team is also working on introducing synchronized team focus periods and breaks and the ability to integrate with more 3rd party apps such as timekeeping tools to further boost collaboration within teams.
Biotechnologist and hardware engineer, TimeChi’s co-founder and CEO Sean Greenhalgh explained the correlation between the strain of balancing work without structure and day-to-day activities which are now magnified under the cloud of COVID-19.
“These are incredibly testing times when we’re seeing an overwhelmed population experiencing conflict juggling the demands of work and home, guilt, and fear. This leads to increased levels of anxiety and burnout, and it's now more important than ever to rethink how work/life balance and productivity can live together in the age of COVID-19 and beyond.”
The History of TimeChi
Solving a problem that many people faced pre-COVID, TimeChi was originally created to provide a virtual quiet ‘bubble’ for people dealing with digital distractions and open office environments.
Sean adds, “TimeChi is the only solution in the market that allows for deep work and breaks, without sacrificing team collaboration. Unlike the old trick of putting on your headphones, TimeChi provides a polite way to signal others to come back when you’re on a break.”
Whether they are for work or play, today’s websites and apps are designed to keep you connected 24/7. Open offices, which were once touted as the answer to better team morale and collaboration, have been proven otherwise, with studies showing how people had 70% fewer face-to-face interactions and sent 56% more emails in this noisy environment.
Sean explains, “When it takes an average of 11 minutes to regain focus after an interruption, it’s not difficult to see how online and physical distractions can have a significant impact on a business’s bottom line, and so we wanted to change that.
“The global pandemic just made us all realize the impact of disruption, and the importance of looking at new and innovative ways to solve the slowdown of workplace productivity.”
