New York City, New York Nov 9, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - A seasoned pathologist, Dr. Kundu serves as an Associate Professor within the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Division of Pathology/Lab Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
As a faculty member at MD Anderson Cancer Center, she has truly enjoyed being an integral team member in cancer care. With a specific interest in endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspirations of the gastrointestinal tract, she also provides mentorship and teaching to residents and fellows in cytopathology along with collaborating on research protocols.
Throughout her academic career, Dr. Kundu graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Louisiana State University in 1999. She then went on to earn her medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2004.
After completing a residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston from 2004-2008, she received her board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. She then went on to pursue a fellowship in surgical pathology at MD Anderson Cancer Center from 2008-2009.
Thereafter, from 2009-2010, Dr. Kundu completed a fellowship in cytopathology at MD Anderson Cancer Center and received her subspecialty board certification in Cytopathology in 2010.
Among her previous academic appointments include Assistant Professor within the Department of Cytopathology, Division of Pathology/Lab Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (2010-2017); Research Associate within the Department of Pathology - Research, Division of Pathology/Lab Medicine at the Louisiana State University Lions Eye Center (2001 - 2001); and Research Associate within the Department of Pathology - Research, Division of Pathology/Lab Medicine at Pennington Biomedical Research Center (1997-2000).
Pathology is a branch of medical science that involves the study and diagnosis of disease through the examination of surgically removed organs, tissues, bodily fluids, and in some cases, the whole body.
