Los Angeles, California Aug 8, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - Urban Elective has officially launched in Los Angeles and will be commencing its fall quarter of classes on September 9th, 2019 (ends on November 29th). There are two six-week terms within Urban Elective Los Angeles’s Fall Quarter from which students can choose to take classes. Each class is two hours long every week and takes place in a local brewery or winery in the greater Los Angeles area.
But the classes you would take with Urban Elective are not the typical classes you would find on any college campus. Urban Elective prides itself on offering classes that are unique, niche, and a little edgy. The 6-week courses range from subjects such as “Erotic Embroidery” to “The Dark History of Los Angeles” to “Intro to Beekeeping” - and anything in between.
Urban Elective’s founder, Sarelyn Radecke, saw a need for Urban Elective when she realized how hard it was for adults to make friends with like-minded individuals.
“It’s so easy to make friends in college because you’re constantly surrounded by people, but that community aspect dissipates as soon as you graduate,” Radecke says. “Yes, you can take a class here and there - but research shows that the more often you’re exposed to someone - the more likely you are to become friends with them. I wanted to create a platform where people could meet and be exposed to other like-minded individuals, week after week while learning something cool and drinking great beer.”
