Los Angeles, California Aug 27, 2018 (Issuewire.com)  - Los Angeles based multi-tasking artist Phoenix Quwais has already redefined modern cinema with his unique filmmaking techniques and approaches. All his films are truly masterpieces not because they use state-of-art technologies but because it proves what a filmmaker can do if he has the hunger for creating something unparalleled. Be it his debut neo-noir film Grenade or the audiovisual treatise Subversive, or for that matter Laughing in Silence or Jokes Under A Tree, Quwais’  films offer the true worth of cinema to the viewer. However, despite such talents, Quwais is unable to get the recognition he and his talents deserve.

In the era of modern cinema where special effects get much importance than storyline, filmmakers like Phoenix Quwais get somehow lost in the crowd. Phoenix has tried with all his ability to bring his screenplays into the notice of producers, but it seemed there is no route to success without the help of literary agents and representatives.  Several producers turned his screenplays down for not being submitted by an agent who is versed with the networking process in the industry. Currently, Phoenix is seeking representation as a screenwriter to sell some of his screenplays. He cites the example of Tarantino who had sold two of his best screenplays- True Romance and Natural Born Killers to make Reservoir Dogs, his masterpiece. He is one of the true talents in the contemporary film industry. He is egotistical but has the ability to redefine modern cinema with his bizarre approaches. Phoenix aims his feelings of resentment towards those filmmakers and screenwriters who call themselves creatives and plagiarize his style and work.  He puts an open challenge to any of the big literary agencies to represent him.

Phoenix Quwais has come forward with a school of thought that he calls The Quwais Dictum. It is his vow of chastity in regard to filmmaking. His singular consistent style with which he shoots all of his films. It sets his films apart from the films of others. The minimalist use of camera movement, his use of static frames with no movement external to the frame, are just some of the unique characteristics of his films.

Also, Phoenix brings in the reference of Dogme 95, the controversial film movement by Danish filmmakers that came into the news in 1995.  The idea of the movement focused on to the film fraternity to return to the traditional values of story, theme and acting rather than giving excessive attention to special effects of technology.  His films too are based on minimal use of technology and give emphasis to storyline, acting and the way it conveys messages to the audience.

Last but not least, Phoenix compares his filmmaking technique to that of iconic Japanese film director, screenwriter Yasujiro Ozu who was best known for using singular style mid-angle shots. Quwais, on the other hand, advocates nothing but precise compositions and low angle shots and also heavily relies on modern editing techniques. Ozu’s films, however, lacked the thrill and excitement that Quwais delivers with perfection with each of his masterpieces.

Artist like Phoenix Quwais are one of a kind and truly hidden talent with such an amazing depth of knowledge about filmmaking. All that he needs is recognition and it is high time that the industry identifies such a talent to achieve new dimension.
