After medical school, Dr. Daugherty trained at the renowned Mayo Clinic, where he completed a rigorous six-year neurosurgery residency followed by a cerebrovascular fellowship. He began his practice in Charlotte, North Carolina, before returning to Virginia Beach to join Sentara Neurosurgery Specialists. As the only dually trained neurovascular surgeon in South Hampton Roads, he specializes in treating complex cases, including aneurysms, brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and stroke, utilizing both open and endovascular surgical techniques.
In addition to his neurovascular specialty, Dr. Daugherty has gained recognition for his expertise in outpatient spine surgeries, performing numerous procedures such as laminectomies and anterior cervical discectomy and fusion. This innovative approach enables patients to recover in the comfort of their homes while benefiting from minimally invasive techniques.
