Charleston, West Virginia Dec 12, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - After over a year of not being able to hold events, WV-based pro wrestling company International Combat Sports has re-entered the arena by hosting multiple events across southern WV. ICS host a yearly tournament called The Combat Cup. It has been considered the most prestigious wrestling tournament in the state in the somewhat short history of the event. The planned 2021 event was unfortunately canceled due to the Covid-19 shutdown.
The 2022 Combat Cup is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 22nd at The Dunbar Rec Center in Dunbar WV, and will feature 8 professional wrestlers competing in a single-elimination tournament. The preliminaries and semi-finals will be contested as three five-minute rounds, with the finals being contested as four five-minute rounds. The winner of the tournament gets to take home the Combat Cup trophy, as well as becoming the number one contender for the ICS Grand Championship, which grants them a match against the champion at the next event.
Speaking of the ICS Grand Championship. The current titleholder, Ron Mathis of Chillicothe OH, will be defending the belt against Oak Hill WV native Benny Conley in a 2 out of 3 falls match.
