North Yorkshire, United Kingdom Jun 7, 2018 (Issuewire.com) - A roofing company is planning to create jobs and hopes to double its turnover after moving to a new home at Lindum Business Park in York.
TA Roofing has relocated from Bishopthorpe to the business park at Elvington, just off the A64.
Managing Director Stuart Simpson says the move will provide the space needed to meet a growing demand for services.
New jobs in York
It will also allow him to recruit at least six more people, taking TA Roofing’s total workforce to 18.
TA Roofing is currently looking for joiners, bricklayers, general builders, semi-skilled workers and labourers to meet their demand.
Mr Simpson chose to move to the Lindum Business Park because it allowed the company to have both offices and warehouse storage space in one location.
“I started the business in 2009 and we have been growing ever since,” he said. “I am not someone who can just sit still – I want to keep pushing and expanding.
“We had reached capacity at our old sites and we couldn’t continue to grow without relocating.
“It’s actually quite hard to find somewhere that has both office and storage space. We were also keen to be on this side of York as the traffic connections and road links are so much better here.
“We had been looking for a long time when my wife Maria, who is the company Accounts and Business Manager, had a doctor’s appointment in Elvington. She spotted to ‘To Let’ sign outside the building, which is next to the surgery.
“We decided to come and have a look round and we felt it was a perfect fit for our needs. The new premises are 8,000 sq feet in size plus office areas, which is four times bigger than our old place allowing us plenty of space to develop.
“Lindum were very helpful following our initial enquiry and made the letting process and moving in stress-free. They were also able to adapt to our individual requirements and we hope we can continue to grow on this site."
As the company name suggests, TA Roofing specialises in roofing and reroofing projects. However, the business has its own team of tradesmen who can manage everything from bricklaying to joinery.
Mr Simpson, who is a bricklayer by trade, said he started the company after spotting an obvious gap in the market.
“I was a self-employed trader and I used to bring in subcontractors to work with me on jobs,” he added.
“After one particularly bad experience with a roofing contractor – where the quality of work and the level of their performance was so poor – I realised I could actually provide a better service myself.
“That was the kick I needed to branch out and now we handle jobs from as small as a chimney pot replacement to a brand new £250,000 roof.
“For us, it’s about providing a great quality product that we are proud of. I believe that as long as we focus on excellent delivery, the phone will keep ringing – and so far it has.”
Members of NFRC and CompetentRoofer Scheme
TA Roofing is a member of the National Federation of Roofing Contractors and is one of only two York companies to be classified as a Competent Roofer, meaning it can self-certify that its work meets building regulations.
Both these standards mean clients can be confident in the quality of the service they are receiving.
Business Park manager Lynn Ritson said she was delighted to welcome Stuart and his team to the site, which is built around the Elvington headquarters of construction company Lindum Group.
“We are really happy to have TA Roofing among the first tenants on our new business park.” She said. “It’s wonderful that we were able to meet their needs and we are continuing to work with them to ensure the space they have taken fits their business going forward.
“The business park opened at the start of the year and has proved popular, with only one office space still available.”
