Born in India and raised in Zambia, Africa, Dr. Khan received his medical degree at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College at Aligarh Muslim University in Aligarh, India. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his internal medicine residency in 1993 at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. In 1996, he finished his cardiovascular disease medicine at the same educational venue, followed by an interventional cardiology fellowship at the University of Louisville.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The American Board of Internal Medicine is a 501 nonprofit, self-appointed physician-evaluation organization that certifies physicians practicing internal medicine and its subspecialties.
Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with disorders of the heart as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology.
Dr. Khan conducted research in the field of molecular cardiac physiology and trained in cardiac transplants. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, of which he is also a professional member. A member of the American Medical Association, Dr. Khan heads a charitable foundation, supporting just causes anywhere in the world.
